JCC girls topped by Fairmont in sub-section finals
Second-seeded Fairmont beat top-seeded Jackson County Central 78-46 in the championship game of the Section 3AA South Sub-Section girls basketball tournament Thursday at the RA Facility at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
The loss ended a 17-game winning streak for the Huskies and finished their season with a 20-7 record.
The Cardinals (21-7) will play Minnewaska Area (26-3) at 5 p.m. Thursday at SMSU in a matchup of teams that were seeded second in their sub-section. The Lakers downed No. 1 seed New London-Spicer 42-36 for the North Sub-Section crown.
Rylie Cother closed out her career with JCC by leading the Huskies in scoring with 19 points. Zadi Farmer netted nine.
Fairmont had three players score in double figures, with Brylee Miller finishing with 26 points, Ellie 17 and Bria Williamson 10.
