The Jackson County Central girls basketball team ran into a pair of tough opponents this past weekend.
On Friday JCC played Marshall tough before falling to the Tigers 77-67 in the first-ever varsity basketball game played in the auxiliary gym at Jackson County Central High School. JCC did have a varsity wrestling dual in the auxiliary gym several years ago.
Then on Saturday the Huskies traveled to Caledonia and lost to the Warriors 74-43.
In the Marshall game, JCC led for a good portion of the first half before the Tigers assumed a 34-31 halftime lead. The Huskies were within four points late in the contest before fouling to put the Tigers at the free-throw line late.
Three players scored in double figures for Jackson County Central with Rylie Cother scoring 24 points, Maci Farmer 21 and Kylee Wenzel 11.
At Caledonia, JCC trailed by 12 points at halftime 36-24 before the Warriors doubled up the Huskies 38-19 in the second 18 minutes.
Cother scored 16 points and Wenzel 11.
Jackson County Central has a 9-12 record, Caledonia is 20-3 and Marshall is 16-7.
JCC closes its regular-season schedule Tuesday by hosting Redwood Valley.
