There’s never a good time to be shorthanded due to injuries and the Windom Area hockey team is playing hard but is in the middle of a daunting stretch that has the Eagles playing six games in 10 days.
That stretch started with a pair of home losses, falling 8-5 to Morris/Benson Thursday and 7-1 to New Ulm Friday.
The Eagles had 50 shots on goal vs. the Storm. Madelyn Schumacher scored two goals and Ella Dockter had a goal and an assist. Marenna Bang and Mataya Hall each scored one goal. Victoria Robillard and Ashlyn Koch had assists.
Lily McNea made her first varsity start in goal and made 16 saves.
In the New Ulm game Friday, Presley Dockter scored the Windom goal. McNea recorded 29 saves.
After having the weekend off, Windom Area plays four games in six days next week including games on three consecutive days.
The Eagles, 5-9-2 overall, will host Fairmont (4-8-2) at 7 p.m. Monday and Worthington (2-10-1) at 5 p.m. Thursday, travel to New Ulm (11-6-1) for a 7 p.m. game Friday and then host Vistation (4-10) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
