Logan Butzon went 6.1 strong innings and Travis Rogotzke closed the game out as the Jackson American Legion baseball team opened play in a tournament in Luverne with a 5-2 win over Baltic, S.D.
Butzon allowed two runs on six hits, walked three and struck out nine. Rogotzke struck out the first batter he faced, walked a batter but recorded the final out of the game on a pop-up to third.
Post 130 scored two runs in the first and added one run in each of the second, third and sixth innings. Baltic scored single runs in the third and sixth.
Brett Rossow had two hits including a double for Jackson. Trey Rossow had a hit and walked, Bryson Powers was hit by a pitch twice and Ben Spaeth singled.
The tournament continues Saturday. Jackson is scheduled to play Tea, S.D. at 10 a.m. at Redbird Field and Worthington at 2 p.m. at the Luverne High School South field.
