TOLEDO, Ohio – Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson made his Triple-A debut Saturday night for the Louisville Bats.
He went four innings for the affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds vs. the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field. The Mid Hens are an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
Williamson was tested early as he allowed three singles to the first three Toledo hitters to load the bases. He was able to limit the damage with strikeout, sacrifice fly and Williamson then made an excellent defensive play to throw out a batter attempting a bunt for a hit to end the inning giving up just one Mud Hen run.
He gave up a home run in the third inning and two more runs in the fourth and left the game with Louisville trailing 4-0. Williamson took the loss as the Mud Hens would go on to win 6-1.
Williamson allowed four runs (all earned) on nine hits, not walking a batter and striking out three. He threw 83 pitches, 54 for strikes. His top speed was on his final pitch, 93 miles per hour.
