WORTHINGTON – Jackson County Central’s track and field teams placed third in both the girls and boys divisions in the Large School portion of the Trojan Relays Tuesday.
Luverne won the girls team title with 148 points, with Marshall second with 137.5 points and the Huskies third with 98.
Host Worthington won the boys meet with 151.5 points, followed by Marshall (115.5) and JCC (98).
Peyton Hanson had the lone first-place finish for the Jackson County Central girls as she won the pole vault by clearing 9-6. She was also second in the 300-meter hurdles (49,.31) and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.58).
Elsa Landherr was second in the 400 meters (1:01.44) and third in the triple jump (32-1/4).
She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x200-meter relay team that was second in 1:51.24. Running the first three legs were Daysia Tomlin, Kendra Haar and Rylie Cother.
Olivia Anderson finished third in the 3200 meters (12:52.37).
Maci Farmer was fourth in both the long jump (14-5) and triple jump (30-8). Tomlin placed fourth in the 100 meters (13.53).
Caleb Vancura had the only first for JCC’s boys, winning the discus (146-9). He was also third in the shot put (45-9 ¾).
The Huskies had three second-place finishes, Andrew Boyum in the 1600 meters (4:39.87); Evan Paplow in the 3200 meters (10:11.87) and Evan Insichienmay in the high jump (5-10).
Quinn Landherr had a pair of third-place finishes, 400 meters (54.43) and pole vault (11-6).
Gabe Wolff was third in the 200 meters (23.75) and fourth in the 100 meters (11.44). Ridge Van Western placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (42.96).
JCC’s 4x200 relay team of Alex Koster, Quinn Landherr, Insichienmay and Wolff was third (1:36.7) and the 4x800 team of Boyum, Clayton Cavness, Kie Anderson and Evan Paplow placed fourth (9:00.36).
Jackson County Central’s girls team will compete in the state Class A true team meet Saturday at Stillwater. Look for a newsletter on that meet later this morning.
Both teams will compete in their sub-section meet on Thursday, May 26.
