Maverick baseball team slated to host Loyola
Martin County West managed to get in three baseball games by the end of March, but the Mavericks haven’t been able to play another one in the first eight days of April.
MCW hasn’t played since a 7-1 win over Heron Lake-Okabena on a combined no-hitter by Noah Meixell and Liam Pytleski.
Meixell pitched six innings, walking six and striking 13. Pytleski fanned the side in the seventh.
The Mavericks are 1-2 overall.
After a pair of postponements, Martin County West will try again to get its April game in on Thursday when it is scheduled to host Mankato Loyola in a 4:30 p.m. at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex.
Loyola actually topped MCW by playing three games in March, beating New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 5-4 on March 28, Minnesota Valley Lutheran 4-1 on March 30 and Cleveland 7-3 on March 31.
In their most recent game, the Crusaders were 13-3 winners over Nicollet on Tuesday to move their record to 4-0, 2-0 in conference play.
MCW then has two more conference games scheduled to start next week, traveling to Cleveland Monday and hosting Nicollet on Tuesday.
