Brandon Williamson’s next start will come on Tuesday at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati when the Reds host Atlanta. It will be his first career appearance vs. the Braves.
Cincinnati returns home after taking two of three games from the Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis.
In his last outing on Wednesday in St. Louis, the Martin County West graduate allowed one run in five innings against the Cardinals. He allowed only three hits, but one was a solo home run by Nolan Arenado. Williamson walked one and struck out five and was not involved in the decision.
Williamson was inactive until Sept. 1 because of a shoulder injury. The setback looked at one point like it might require surgery.
Williamson has allowed just one run in each of the three games he’s pitched since his return. The left-hander has progressed from 3 1/3 to 4 2/3 to five innings Wednesday night.
In 13 innings in three appearances (two starts and one in relief) Williamson has allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits, walked three and struck out seven.
