
With the NBA Finals ending Monday with the Boston Celtics winning their record 18th championship, it seems appropriate to have the NBA be the theme of this week’s Tuesday Trivia.
That will not be one of the questions, however.

Answers

1: Jerry West scored 1,679 points in NBA Finals games, all with the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 30.5 points in 55 games.

2: Bill Russell holds the record for most NBA rings, winning 11 in his 13-year career with the Boston Celtics.

3: The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Francisco Warriors 4-2 in the 1967 Finals. Philadelphia had won 4-1 over Boston in the Eastern Division finals. Wilt Chamberlain won his first NBA championship that year, averaging 29.1 rebounds, 21.7 points and 9.0 assists in 15 games.

4: Willis Reed was the NBA Finals MVP in 1970 and again in 1973. He played for the New York Knicks both times and played against the same team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
5: Michael Jordan won a record six times. He won three in a row twice (1991-1993 and 1996-1998). LeBron James has won four, while Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan won three times each.
6: Phil Jackson won 11 titles as a coach. He coached the Chicago Bulls to six NBA titles (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998). Jackson later coached the Lakers to five titles (2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010).

7: Earvin (Magic) Johnson started at center and eventually played all five positions in a 114-104 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. He scored a game-high 42 points, grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and handed out seven assists.

8: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the New York Knicks 78-77 in five games in the 1999 Finals. San Antonio won the final game of their series 78-77 with Avery Johnson hitting the game-winning shot.

9: Andre Iguodala is the only winner of the MVP to have not started every game in the series, doing to in 2015 with the Golden State Warriors, who defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2. He averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists and was the primary defender of LeBron James.
10: Elgin Baylor scored 61 points for the Lakers in a 126-121 Game 5 win at Boston Garden that gave Los Angeles a 3-2 series lead. The Celtics would win Games 6 and 7 to win their fourth of eight straight titles.
