Two firsts

MCW/B-O wins two events at Sentinel Relays

Athletes from the Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin track and field teams collected several high finishes in the Class A portion of the Sentinel Relays Friday at Bob Bonk Track in Fairmont.

The boys had two first-place finishes and also had two seconds.

Berent Kosbab won the 200 meters (23.41) and was second in the 100 meters (11.77). He also ran the opening leg of the second-place sprint medley relay team (3:54.58). Running the other legs were Talon Kettner, Carlos Rodriguez and Grant Koehnen.

Ryan Pierson was first in the 3200 meters (4:45.4).

The girls had three second-place finishes including the 4x800 relay team of Maddison Lyon, Katelynn Kennedy, Evelynn Christenson, Katie Hartke (11:29.12).

Individual seconds came from Mylee Larson in the discus (88-11) and Allie Engebretsen in the long jump (14-5 ¾).

MCW/B-O will compete in the Section 2A true team meet Tuesday in Wells.
