Hobie Hedquist was in goal for two wins for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs last weekend as their British Columbia Hockey League season winds down.
On Saturday, he was the No. 2 Star of the Game as he stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced in a 6-2 Alberni Valley win over the Chilliwack Chiefs.
Hedquist was the victim in an incident late in that game:
The Chilliwack team issued a statement the next day:
On Friday, Hedquist made 27 saves on 30 shots in a 6-3 win over the Surrey Eagles.
The Heron Lake native was also pressed into action last Tuesday for final 2:38 of the Bulldogs’ 8-3 win over the Powell River Kings when Alberni Valley’s starting goaltender was ejected.
For the season, Hedquist has played 2,308 minutes in 40 games, has a 25-12-2 record including two shutouts with a save percentage of .912 and goals against average of 2.81.

The Bulldogs have an overall record of 30-19-3-1 and are locked into third place in the BCHL’s Coastal Division regular-season standings with 64 points.
