The Martin County West softball team picked up two wins at a softball triangular Saturday at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex in Welcome, beating Adrian/Ellsworth 9-2 and Hayfield 11-5. In the other game, Adrian/Ellsworth topped Hayfield 4-2.
MCW has won five in a row and has an overall record of 11-2.
Maddie Carlson was the winner in the pitcher’s circle in the first game vs. the Dragons and also had two hits at the plate.
Carlson allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked six and struck out 10. One of her two hits was a double.
Courtney Anderson also had two hits that included a triple, and Hannah Rosenberg and Bailey Larson had two hits apiece. Rowan Faber doubled and Emily Schettler and Cami Clow each had a hit.
Carlson also went the route vs. the Vikings, giving up five runs (two earned) on four hits, walked two and fanned five. She had three hits in that game for Martin County West, as did Larson.
Emily Anderson and Emily Schettler each had two hits including a triple and Rosenberg also had two hits. Courtney Anderson doubled for MCW, with Addy Wohlhuter and Faber collecting one hit apiece.
Martin County West hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in a nonconference game at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
