Jackson County Central had two place winners at the Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament that concluded Friday at the Fargodome in Fargo.
Nolan Ambrose placed second at 145 pounds and Kayden Eller was seventh at 114.
Ambrose won his first three matches by fall and then won by medical forfeit in the semifinals.
In the finals, Ambrose, rated first at 145 in Class 1A, met Woodbury’s Alex Braun, ranked first at 145 in Class 3A. Braun won 14-5 over Ambrose.
Ambrose is a three-time state champion in Class 1A and a two-time champion at the Rumble, winning at 132 last year and 113 in 2021.
Braun is a three-time state place winner and one-time state champ. He has one Rumble title as he was first at 138 last year.
Braun is now 24-0 for the season while Ambrose is 18-1.
Kayden Eller went 5-2 to finish seventh at 114. He’s now 15-4.
Three Huskies, Isaac Rodriguez (121), Seth Stai (172) and Ryan Haley (189) went 2-2. Going 1-2 were Kyler Thier (107), Dallas Gossen (114) and Ben Dahlin (139).
JCC finished 16th out of 66 teams in the team standings with 63 points. Class 3A second-ranked Mounds View was first with 177 points.
The Huskies are at The Clash in La Crosse next weekend. JCC’s first match is vs. Liberty, Ariz. at 9 a.m. Friday.
