COTTONWOOD – Jackson County Central was the team champion in both the boys and girls divisions at the Laker Invitational track and field meet Tuesday.
The Huskies won the boys team title with 142.5 points. BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart was second with 106.
JCC won the girls meet with Jackson County Central 162.5 points, with MACCRAY/Renville County West next with 101.
Jackson County Central’s boys piled up seven first-place finishes including a school record from Andrew Boyum, who won the 3200 meters in 10:13.78.
Caleb Vancura had two firsts, winning the shot put (45-7 1/4) and discus (137-0).
Other individual firsts for the Huskies were by Evan Paplow in the 1600 meters (4:45.92) and Quinn Landherr in pole vault (11-0).
JCC also won two relays.
The 4x800 team of Boyum, Paplow, Kie Anderson and Clayton Cavness was first in 9:05.02 and the 4x200 team of Evan Insichienmay, Gabriel Wolff, Landherr and Alex Koster won in 1:39.05.
The Jackson County Central girls had five first-place finishes.
Four were in individual events.
Olivia Anderson won the 1600 meters (5:55.58), Kendra Haar won the 200 meters (28.42), Payton Benda was first in the 100-meter hurdles (17.54), and Peyton Hanson won pole vault (9-0).
Also earning a first foe the JCC girls was the 4×200-meter relay team of Daysia Tomlin, Haar, Rylie Cother and Elsa Landherr (1:52.89).
The Huskies are scheduled to compete in the Fairmont Sentinel Relays Friday.
