
Two Jackson County Central runners have qualified for the state Class A girls cross country meet from Thursday's Section 3A meet in Luverne.
Eighth-grader Naiya Ayers placed sixth out of 117 runners in a 5K time of 19:48.77 and freshman Cora Pauling was 10th in 20:06.53.
Pauling is going to state for the second time, having also qualified last year when she was an eighth grader.
Addie Thomes of Redwood Valley was the individual champion in 19:06.22. Redwood and Canby/Minneota were the team qualifiers.
Kayden Mitchell led the JCC boys by placing 65th of 137 runners in 19:56.40.
Redwood Valley’s William Ahrens was the top individual in 15:43.50. Redwood Valley and Luverne were the team qualifiers.
The state meet is Saturday at Les Bolstad University of Minnesota Golf Course in Falcon Heights.
