Hobie Hedquist recorded two home wins this weekend for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League.
The Bulldogs, tied for fifth place in the nine-team BCHL Coastal Division, beat the division leading Nanaimo Clippers 4-2 Friday and the Wenatchee Wild 4-1 on Saturday.
In Friday’s win the Heron Lake native made 21 saves on the 23 shots he faced, making two in the first period, seven in the second and 12 in the third.
He followed that up on Saturday by earning Second Star honors for the game by making 29 saves on 30 shots, stopping seven shots in the opening period and 11 in each of the final two.
Hedquist has a 12-10-1 record for the season with a save percentage of .903 and goals against average of 3.14.
The Bulldogs are tied for fifth place in the BCHL’s nine-team Coastal Division with a 14-15-2 record.
Alberni Valley hosts the Langley Rivermen Friday and the Surrey Eagles Saturday.
