Jackson County Central’s football team faced two tough tests Thursday at Swearingen Field.
It was faced with a Luverne team that had played well the four previous weeks as well as some miserable weather.
The Huskies aced both tests, shutting out the Cardinals 34-0 to improve their record to 7-0. Luverne is 4-3.
JCC’s defense held Luverne to negative yardage in the game.
The Cardinals had 32 rushing attempts, with the Huskies holding them to a minus 19 yards. Luverne was 1-for-3 passing for nine yards, giving the Cardinals minus 10 yards offense.
Jackson County Central had 304 yards offense, all rushing. The Huskies were 0-2 passing.
JCC had four rushing touchdowns, Roman Voss scored from 55 yards out on the first play from scrimmage in the game. Clay Malchow scored on a 10-yard run in the second quarter and the Huskies led 14-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Aiven Farmer recovered a poor Luverne snap in punt formation for a TD and Seth Stai went in from 15 yards out. Stai and Gage Johnson had two-point conversion runs.
Isaac Hesebeck closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter as he scored on a 21-yard run.
Voss led Jackson County Central in rushing with 113 yards on 13 carries and Stai had 86 yards on five tries.
The Huskies will close out their regular-season schedule Wednesday at Pipestone. The Arrows are 5-2 after a 14-8 win over Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Friday.
