ST. PAUL - Hanna Geistfeld, a 6-foot senior with the Bethany Lutheran College women’s basketball team, has been named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
She’s a native of Truman and a Martin Luther High School graduate.
It’s the fourth time this season and 10th time in her career with the Vikings she’s received the honor.
Geistfeld had a double-double in games vs. Wisconsin-River Falls and Wisconsin-Stout to bring her total in that category to seven for the season.
In the River Falls game, Fairmont graduate Taylor Crissinger, a 6-foot junior for the Falcons, played 14 minutes and had three rebounds and one assist.
She averaged 24.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in those contests. Geistfeld shot 52% from the field and went 17-for-22 at the free-throw line.
For the season, she’s playing 36.0 minutes per game, averaging 23.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Geistfeld is shooting .531 from the field (94-177) and .789 at the line (71-90).
Bethany is 7-4 overall on the season, 2-0 in the UMAC. The Vikings go to Dubuque for the Loras tournament Wednesday and Thursday, where they’ll play the host Duhawks and Simpson College.
