Sherburn native Carsen Musser and the U.S. National Under-18 hockey team are wrapping up their United States Hockey League schedule with weekend series in Chicago against the Steel. The teams will play Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
The U18s are third in the USHL’s Eastern Conference with a 33-17-1-2 record for 69 points. Chicago is first with 72 points and the Youngstown Phantoms second with 71.
Musser hasn’t played in a game since March 18.
Early last month, the USNTDP added a third goalie to its roster, adding Hampton Slukynsky of Warroad after he led the Warriors to a second-place finish at the state Class A tournament. He stopped all 23 shots he saw in 32:39 this week in a 10-1 win over the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Musser, a Colorado College commit, has played in 24 games for the U18s and has a 13-6 record. He’s played 1,188 minutes and 8 seconds and has a save percentage of .892 and his goals-against average is 3.03.
