The opponents on Jackson County Central’s 2025 volleyball schedule are the same as they’ve been for several years, with a slight shuffling of the order.
Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda remains on the schedule as it has for several years, but instead of playing in the first week of the regular season, the Huskies and Coyotes don’t play until October.
Something that was new to the schedule last season was a matchup vs. traditional Class 1A power Mayer Lutheran at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato.
JCC graduate Pat Garvin is Co-Athletic Director and head men’s basketball coach at Bethny and his wife, Lindsey (Overaas) is a former JCC volleyball player.
The Huskies and Crusaders will play at BLC on Thursday, Sept. 11, a week later than last year.
Mayer Lutheran has played in the championship march of the state Class 1A tournament for four straight years, winning the title last year and in 2021.
Jackson County Central’s opener is at Blue Earth Area on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
On Friday, Aug. 29, the Huskies open home and Big South Conference play vs. Hall of Fame coach Dan Westby and the Marshall Tigers.
That match was moved from Aug. 28 to Aug. 29 and will have an earlier start time heading into Labor Day weekend. All three matches will be played in the main gym, with C squad at 1:30 p.m. followed by B squad and varsity.
Marshall was second in the state Class 3A tournament last year after winning the title the three previous seasons. Since 2000, the Tigers have played in the state tournament in 22 of 25 seasons, winning the state title nine times and finishing second six times.
JCC will play in the same regular-season tournaments, starting with hosting the Carolyn Hummel Invitational on Sept. 13. Scheduled to play in that tournament are:
Estherville Lincoln Central
Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda
Jackson County Central
Luverne
Martin County West
New Ulm
Red Rock Central
Triton
Windom
Worthington
The Huskies will also return to the Burnsville-Eastview tournament Oct. 3-4 and play in the Todd Bachman Invitational at Lakeville North Oct. 10-11.
JCC will close out its regular-season schedule at Sioux Falls Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The Chargers were third in last year’s state Class A tournament in South Dakota after winning the state title the previous seven years.
