Jackson County Central senior Emma Haren played for the Futures team at the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star match Wednesday at Mounds View High School.
The match time was part of the coaches’ 42nd annual clinic.
Haren’s Futures team went 1-1 in the three-team, round-robin event, winning 2-0 over Team Sota (25-12, 28-26) after Team Minne had defeated Team Futures 2-0 (25-22, 25-23). In the other match Team Minne won 2-1 over Team Sota (19-25, 25-22, 7-2).
During the clinic, the coaches released their preseason ratings. Two Big South Conference teams are ranked in Class 3A.
Two-time defending state champion Marshall is rated first, with St. Peter 10th. The Tigers beat the Saints in both the BSC championship match and Section 2AAA match last season.
Four of the top 10 teams in Class 1A are from Section 3A as Minneota is first, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton fourth, Canby eighth and Wabasso 10th.
Cannon Falls is the Class 2A leader, while Wayzata is on top in Class 4A.
