Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson recorded his first professional win as the Everett AquaSox beat the Vancouver Canadians 9-1 in a High-A West League game in Hillsboro, Ore. Saturday night. Vancouver is playing home games in Oregon until the U.S.-Canada border reopens.
Williamson pitched seven and one-third innings, striking out 13 of the 25 batters he faced. On his way to his career-high whiff total, he struck out the side on nine pitches in the third inning to mark the first time an Everett pitcher has done that since 2007.
The Mariners' 2019 second-round pick allowed one run (a second inning home run) on two hits and walked one.
In 20 innings over four starts this season Williamson has allowed nine hits, walked seven and struck out 39. Opponents are hitting .132 against him.
