Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson lost for the first time in his professional baseball career Sunday as the Hillsboro Hops defeated the Everett AquaSox 5-3 in a High-A West contest.
The game was a scheduled seven-inning contest as it was the first game of a doubleheader, although the second game was rained out.
Williamson allowed five runs on nine hits that included a pair of second-inning home runs in 5.2 innings. A lefthander and a second-round draft pick by the Seattle Mariners in 2019, Willamson did not walk a batter and struck out 12.
He has struck out 51 batters in 25.2 innings this season.
In the first 15 games of his career, Williamson has a 3.07 earned-run average, allowing 27 hits in 41 innings, walking 12 and striking out 76. Opponents are hitting .185 against him.
