Jackson County split a Big South Conference baseball doubleheader with Redwood Valley Friday at Memorial Field in Redwood Falls. The Huskies won the second game 2-1 in eight innings after the Cardinals won the opener 7-1.
Talan Holm pitched a gem in the nightcap as he went all eight innings, striking out nine.
Jace Jorgensen played a part in both of JCC’s runs. He singled and scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning and then hit a ball that plated Kash Gilbert with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Carson Doescher had two hits for the Huskies.
In the first game, Levi Thompson took the mound for his varsity debut and went the distance, allowing three earned runs and striking out three.
Holm’s groundout scored Ben Gallagher with JCC’s lone run.
Jackson County Central is 2-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Huskies are scheduled to play a 5:30 p.m. game at Blue Earth Area Tuesday.
